Celebrate life, love, and legacy with us this Día de los Muertos — where everyone belongs, and every memory shines.

Rooted in ancient Aztec and Mexican customs, Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a joyful remembrance of those who’ve gone before us. It’s not about mourning — it’s about connection, honoring lives lived, and recognizing that love never really dies. Bright marigolds, papel picado, music, and laughter fill the air as we keep memories vibrant through creativity and community.

Here at Austin Galano Club, we celebrate in our own inclusive way — blending culture, recovery, and pride. Whether you come dressed in full Catrina flair or just want to enjoy pizza and games with friends, everyone is welcome to join the fiesta.

Bring your best costume, your laughter, and maybe a story or two for the altar of memory. Let’s make this night a colorful reminder that we are all connected — in life, in legacy, and in love.

All are welcome. All are remembered. All are home.

The altar of memory (or ofrenda) is the heart of Día de los Muertos. It’s a vibrant, personal tribute to loved ones who’ve passed on — a way to welcome their spirit back for a brief visit filled with warmth, color, and joy.

Each item on the altar carries meaning:

  • Photos of loved ones — to remember and honor them

  • Candles — to light their way home

  • Marigolds (cempasúchil) — their bright color and scent guide the spirits

  • Favorite foods or drinks — to nourish them after the long journey

  • Sugar skulls or small keepsakes — reminders that life is sweet and fleeting

  • Water — to quench the spirit’s thirst

  • Personal mementos — anything that represents their essence, from a favorite book to a guitar pick

It’s not about sadness — it’s about connection. Building an altar of memory is a celebration of life, a reminder that love outlasts the physical world, and that those we’ve lost are never far from our hearts.
