Galano is a clubhouse that operates independently from the 12-Step meetings that take place here. (Actually, the meetings are independent from Galano—and each other—per the Tradition about autonomy.)
Galano has three sources of income:
- Fees collected from each group for using the meeting rooms.
- A small profit from the Coffee Bar concessions.
- Monthly or annual sustaining donations from individual Club members.
When individual groups pass the basket in their meetings, a portion of that collection is used by your group to pay Galano for use of the meeting room. But the cost of maintaining the social area—the lounge—is borne by the individual members of the Galano Club.
If you are new to sobriety, please attend the 12-Step meetings that take place at Galano; and also hang out in the lounge and learn to enjoy life clean and sober as our guest. We want Galano to be a fun and safe place to socialize without drugs and alcohol.
But it is a Club—and Clubs have members that pay dues. As you progress through the Steps and become more financially secure (or at least fear financial insecurity less), please consider being more than a guest at Galano.
Membership begins at $15 monthly or $150 yearly.
What are the benefits to Membership? Knowing you are financially supporting an institution that is important to our community—and you get to vote on new Board Members.
You may also donate to a separate Building Fund. Membership dues cover the operating costs of the Galano Club; the Building Fund may only be used toward the purchase of a building.
Membership dues and Building Fund donations are both tax-deductible, as the Galano Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. An annual statement is sent to each donor for tax purposes.
